Last year during our JC Stunt Team 40th Anniversary celebration, I dedicated this song “Qing Chun Gu Shi ” – 《青春故事》to my JC Stunt Team members, fans, and friends all over the world. From the very beginning as one of the ‘Seven Little Fortunes’ to establishing my JC Stunt Team, these people have accompanied me during my childhood and youthful years. Today, I’d like to share with you some of these old photos. Every single photo is a precious and unforgettable piece of memory, telling a story of when I was young. Now it’s your turn to tell me, who do you think of after listening to my song? What is your childhood story that comes to mind?

I also recorded a short message to go with this song. Again, it’s in Mandarin, but my staff will translate it to English for my overseas fans very soon. For those of you who understand Mandarin can have a listen first.

Qing Chun Gu Shi 青春故事獨白 – Monologue

“My childhood was a little different from yours. When I was about 6 years old, my parents sent me to the Chinese Opera School. Every day, as soon as I opened my eyes, I’d be up and training with my “shixiong” (brothers). At a blink of an eye, I trained for 10 years. I was still so young and my parents weren’t by my side. Training every day was tough and I’d often be punished by my sifu (master). I remember when I first started, apart from crying every day, I’d just cry every day.

As I grew a little older, I was selected as one of the “Seven Little Fortunes”. Even so, I still had to train hard every day, and Sifu still punished me quite often. But at least I got a chance to perform on stage, and having that opportunity made me feel very honored. While performing on stage, we’d always have some little ‘accidents’ every now and then. One day, someone would forget his lines and start creating his own script; another day, I might suddenly decide to wear a moustache with my costume and go on stage. These memories are still vivid on my mind, and I often laugh to myself whenever I think or talk about them.

Later, we started working on the movie set. From being an extra to being a stunt double, then becoming a stuntman; from acting as a dead body in a scene to having one shot where I walk past the camera, and then advancing to having one line in the movie…… I would do the action sequences that people didn’t want to do. I would jump the buildings that people wouldn’t jump. Slowly, I established a name for myself.

And then later, I started to have my own team, called the JC Stunt Team. At the very beginning, there were only 2-3 of us. As time passed, more and more people joined us. At first, the team were all Asians, but now there are people from countries all over the world. Since then till now, it’s been over 40 years already. I believe that not only in the history of kung fu movies in Hong Kong, you will see traces of us in the history of kung fu movies worldwide.

This song is dedicated to our youthful years. Back then, we had no idea what the future would be like. We didn’t know if hard work would actually result in success. But we still worked hard, gave it our best, never let go, never gave up and continued to risk it at all costs.

The Chinese Opera School, Seven Little Fortunes, the JC Stunt Team – these are all very precious memories that will always remain with each and every one of us.”

I’ve played so many types of heroes in many different movies. But when it comes to protecting our environment, there will never be just one hero to save the world. Environmental protection requires the combined strength of every single human on the planet. April 22 is Earth day and my documentary about protecting our environment, “Jackie Chan’s Green Heroes” will also be released. Let’s all be our own environmental hero!

Lately, I’ve been busy preparing for my upcoming new movie and we’re at the very exciting stage of starting the production. But last week, the HKFA asked if I could present the Professional Achievement Award at the ceremony. When they told me the award winner was Pauline, I didn’t think twice and immediately agreed to fly back to HK. Being a good “Tea Lady” is not an easy job! And Pauline has been doing this for over 30 years. Not only does she look after the main actors and stars filming the movie, she actually looks after everyone on the set. While I was on the stage I said, “when we work in society, we should work with our hearts. When you are nice to someone, they will be nice to you too. And Pauline’s XO sauce is truly delicious!”

While I was in HK, I saw all the gifts and donations and drawings and cards that fans from all over the world sent to me. I know my fans are worried and they keep asking if I received their gift or not. Please rest assured, my dear fans, I’ve received all your gifts! I’ve opened them and seen them, and I want to take this opportunity to say “thank you” for your continuous and heartwarming support! Thank you!

I’m very excited to share this song with you. As a special gift to all my fans, my friends, my family, and all the people close to me, I hope you’ll enjoy this song. Even though you all see me as an action superstar, but I truly love singing as well! Its been 16 years since I released my last album, and I was very pleased to share the news of my upcoming album when I held a small event at the end of March. My new album is scheduled to be released in August this year, and I hope everyone will be able to enjoy seeing another side of me. To be honest, I’m not a professional singer…. I just love to sing, because through singing, I’m able to express many things that I usually can’t say with words. Singing my feelings so a lot easier. I’ve filmed many movies and said many heartfelt dialogues, but in real life, I’ve never actually said “I love you” to my family.

This is the first of my new songs that I’d like to share with you. Hope you like it.

I also recorded a short message to go with this song. But because it’s in Mandarin, my staff will translate it to English for my overseas fans. But in the meantime, those of you who understand Mandarin can listen to my message first.

When…. do we humans suddenly realize that we’re getting old? These few years, every time I receive news of a close friend passing away, I clearly feel that I’m getting old. When I was young, I just wanted to become famous and hoped people in Hong Kong recognized me; people in Asia recognized me; people all over the world recognized me. Making films has always kept me busy and wherever I went, I would call home. Every day, I’d be on the set with my brothers and we’d work from the cradle to the grave. One day he would break an arm, the next day I would break a leg. During those days, we didn’t have time to feel the pain. As time passed by, I started living my own kind of lifestyle. I became someone that everybody recognized. Every day, I’d fly from one place to another. I’d often wake up and wonder, where in the world am I? After a quick scan of the surroundings I’d realize, oh ~ I’m in a suite of a hotel in a city of a country. It’s very luxurious and has everything you need. I then realize the busy schedule ahead of me. I wash my face, brush my teeth, comb my hair, choose my outfit, and make preparations to face the outside world; to be the Jackie Chan in everybody’s hearts. But in the evenings when its quiet and I’m alone, I will think of you: my respected elders, brothers, friends. Looking back at the times when I was most looked down on, elders gave me wise words of encouragement. When I was still a stuntman, I didn’t have enough money to eat. I remember the old run-down rooms I stayed together with my brothers. I remember the cities I visited with my friends, the restaurants we went to, the wine we drank. I remember the last time we just casually said ‘goodbye’. It never came across my mind that it would be our last time to say goodbye. This song is dedicated those I once loved; have lost; are now gone; and to those I may never get a chance to see again.
