Not too long ago, the publisher in Japan named the Japanese version of my book as 《Youngster Forever》. I like this a lot. Growing old with age and seeing friends gradually leaving, the feeling of sadness in my heart is unavoidable. But today is my birthday and I received a message from my friend, a quote from Su Shi (a famous Chinese poet also known as Su Dongpo): “Old man lets loose some youthful wildness, left hand leading a yellow dog, right hand holding a grey eagle. Wine helps broaden bravery, my hair a little frosted on the temples, what harm could that be.” I suddenly felt as though I’m at this stage in life, or should I say that I still feel like a reckless youngster. I want to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to all my friends and fans for all your birthday wishes. May we all be forever young!

When I had the accident in Yugoslavia, my JC Stunt team were at the scene. One of the stuntmen well known for being very manly on the set, was crying in tears when he told me about the operation. That person was Fung Hak On. He’s a member of the second generation JC Stunt team. From being a stuntman to an action choreographer, then progressing on as a director, he’s become a great role model in the hearts of our younger generation. It’s hard to comprehend that I’ve actually come to a point in our lives where we’re continuously saying goodbye. Hak-on, my brother forever, may you rest in peace.

The start of Spring Festival has been filled with sadness because of a large earthquake that shook Southern Taiwan recently, leaving many injured and loss of lives. People are still being rescued right now. I’ve been paying close attention to the situation and I hope I can help provide relief to the disaster victims by helping rebuild their homes. I’d like to send my special respects to all the rescue workers who’ve been searching endlessly around the clock for survivors. You’re efforts are to be highly commended!

Lately I’ve been busy flying all over the world. Firstly with Kung Fu Yoga, we started filming in Beijing, then flew to Dubai, and then back to Beijing. Next was Railroad Tigers, shooting from Dongbei in Northeast China, then across to Shandong province. Straight after the wrap for Railroad Tigers, we immediately drove back to Beijing and continued shooting for Kung Fu Yoga. After filming Kung Fu Yoga for about 10 days, I had to fly straight to London and start shooting the new film, Foreigner. We’ve been filming in London for about a week already. On Sunday the 17th, we started work at 5:00am and right after we finished at 1:00pm, I immediately rushed to the airport and flew back to Shanghai to attend the premier event for Kung Fu Panda 3. Now I have to fly back to London and continue shooting my new film!

Yesterday, I especially flew to Taiwan to attend the grand opening of the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum. Following the Asian Civilizations Museum in Singapore, the National Palace (southern branch) in Taiwan is the second museum to receive my 12 Chinese Zodiacs bronze heads that have taken us many years to make. Thanks to a team of creative artists and designers for their hard work and efforts, I was finally able to donate the bronze zodiac heads to Taiwan and have them displayed in the main museum at the southern branch. I was very excited and pleased to see the serene and impressive exhibit. I truly hope that more and more people will better understand my heartfelt intentions of protecting our history and respecting our culture.
