Trip to Yushu, Qinghai Province, China:

Jackie and the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation depart from Shanghai and head towards Yushu. Everything is ready.

Jackie and his team arrive safely at Xining, Qinghai. After a short and simple donation ceremony, we prepare to unload the relief supplies we brought along with us.

Although we prepared the trip in just one day, we managed to gather supplies from Beijing, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Guangzhou, Zhengzhou and some other places. A heartfelt thank you to all my friends and to all the organizations for being aware of my Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation!

I’m deeply grateful to China Eastern Airlines for providing an airbus A320 plane for us to ship our relief supplies, and giving us the green light to fly into the area so we could bring all the supplies in on time.

Even though we didn’t take any personal luggage with us, the cargo compartment of the plane was filled with relief supplies yet we still couldn’t fit all the supplies onto the plane. This time we only brought along less than half of the relief supplies we gathered for the area.

We knew that the disaster area were in desperate need of warm clothing and blankets. Before I boarded the plane today, a friend of mine sent over several bags of warm clothing but we couldn’t load it into the cargo compartment, so each of my disciples hand-carried two bags onto the plane.

Last year, the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation had already made plans to allocate 20 million RMB towards the Serious Illness and Treatment Facility for Youth in Qinghai Province program. But now a disaster has struck in Yushu, so the foundation especially donated 3 million RMB for the children injured in the earthquake. The foundation will also provide assistance to the area.

My disciples, the Lucky 7, are busy unloading the relief supplies from the plane.

Keep up the hard work, Lucky 7. Let the officers and army troops have a little rest. They’re really tired; they’ve worked so hard.

Relief supplies are being unloaded on one side and they’re being reloaded onto another plane so we can immediately head off to the Yushu disaster zone. I’ll be flying on this plane to Yushu.

You can see troops from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army everywhere. Wherever there’s a disaster anywhere in China, they’re always the first ones to be at the site.
