Jackie in Beijing: A Commitment to Chinese Culture

As the 2008 Olympics in Beijing wind down, Jackie is still moving full-speed ahead to support not only the Games, but China and Chinese culture. He has been in Beijing for nearly a month, attending ceremonies, giving interviews, and even acting as a volunteer for the hugely popular China Story exhibit in the Olympic Center District.

Jackie's involvement in promoting the Olympics as a Goodwill Ambassador has occupied much of his time this year and he has voluntarily limited his other activities in order to give all his time and attention to the Games.

Recently Jackie expressed his desire for the China Story exhibits to remain in Beijing after the Olympics end. The exhibits are a unique and delightful way of introducing the many and varied cultures of China to the public. The display, which consists of thirty Xiangyun huts (also referred to as "Cloud Huts"), has proven quite popular not only with visitors from overseas, but with the Chinese themselves. Each hut tells the story of its occupant and the displays describe the heritage and history of different regions and cultures in China. Jackie, who is an official volunteer for the China Story project, is very interested in making this display a permanent one in Beijing.

Jackie will attend the closing ceremony for the 2008 Beijing Olympics on August 24th.
