Karate Kid Tops US Box Office

In what is being called the first hit of the summer movie season, The Karate Kid has topped the US domestic box office by earning US $56 million on its opening weekend.  The film, a remake of the 1984 classic of the same name, beat out The A-Team and Shrek Forever After.
