I woke up very early this morning, got out of bed at around 5:00 a.m. and rushed off to the airport to catch another early flight from Bangkok to Hong Kong. As soon as I arrived in Hong Kong and walked out of the arrival gates at the airport, I saw a car waiting for me in the pickup area. It was a specially licensed car that could be driven in Hong Kong and in China, and it was ready to take me directly to Guangzhou so I could attend the One Year Countdown to the Asia Games event. The Asia Games will be held next year. My schedule was extremely tight; I didn’t even have time to practice the song properly. I quickly learned the lyrics and rehearsed the song while I was in the car on the way to Guangzhou. I had to make the most of every minute and every second I had. When I arrived at the venue, I only had time for a quick rehearsal and then it was time to perform on stage. After traveling such a long way and rushing to attend this event, the part where I performed a song ended in less than a minute.

After the event finished, we drove back to Hong Kong and it was already past one o’clock in the morning. When I got home, I unpacked my luggage and put away the clothes that I’d be wearing for the next few days. Just as I was doing this, I saw JJ and Jones sitting to one side, staring at me with their sincere puppy eyes. It was as if they were saying to me, “Haven’t seen you in a long time, play with me!” Ha ha ha! With the way that they were looking at me, I honestly couldn’t say no so I spent some time playing with them running around the backyard, getting them to fetch the ball….no matter how tired I felt at the time, I didn’t feel tired anymore.

I felt as though I only just fell asleep when I was awakened by another morning call. I think I only slept for three hours but I had to get up again and face a new day of more work. I got out of bed, stretched and refreshed myself. Time to start work.
As you may already know, my office in Kowloon Tong has moved to Clearwater Bay. I drove to my new office and as soon as I walked in the door, I saw a whole group of people waiting for me in the conference room. It seemed as if each of them had a ticket in their hand with a number on it, waiting in line to see me. He had ticket number one, another person had ticket number two, another group had ticket number three, everybody was waiting to see me…there were staff from various departments in Hong Kong waiting to report back on things such as the renovation plans for my office in Clearwater Bay; there were matters concerning my films such as the progress of my new film, the release and promotional issues for the film; my office in Beijing was waiting to report back; I had to arrange my work schedule and the charity event in Taiwan needed to be organized, plus many many other things.
In the afternoon, I didn’t care about what I had to do; I just took some time out and got a haircut. Afterwards, I went to the ballroom at the InterContinental Hotel to rehearse with my brothers and sisters from the Peking Opera School because in the evening we would be performing at the Seven Little Fortunes 50th Anniversary Reunion.
It’s been several decades since we last got together all in one place. This reunion is such a rare occasion and I think that might not happen again because everybody now lives in different places all over the world, working to support and feed their families, and the timing has to be right for everyone to come together so it goes without saying that there is a little difficulty with that. Everybody treasured the occasion because we knew that this reunion might be our last reunion. Not only did we all perform and entertain each other, most of us couldn’t escape a conversation that started with someone saying, “Back in those days…” We talked about the times we spent training together and being punished together, our mischievous and playful behavior as kids, plus many other interesting stories. All these memorable moments came back to life and reappeared in our minds again. Funny enough, all these tough and miserable experiences that we had when we were kids have now become wonderful memories and interesting stories. Time is so ruthless and it flies by so quickly. I had a very enjoyable time but at the same time, I felt a little sad. Nevertheless, everyone was in high-spirits and we spent a very lively and joyous evening together.

We wanted this happy day to continue a little longer so we decided to meet up again the next day and have another dinner together. There would be no special guests, just us – the shi xiong di mei (brothers and sisters), together for another reunion.

Another new day and another day of more work continuing from yesterday. Today there was another group of people waiting to have meetings with me at the office, including an inventor named Chen Ke-Wen who came to talk about the progress and business operations of his third generation disinfectant machine. He also talked about the progress of his other new inventions. I had other meetings as well, such as discussing where to hold the Jackie Chan Charity Cup Race for next year and organizing preparations for it and discussing ideas and designs for my self-branded products. I met with a director and listened to some of his ideas on a new script; talked about the preparation progress for my new movie Twelve Zodiacs, discussed the progress of my Jackie Chan museum in Shanghai, had more discussions about the design and renovations for my office in Clearwater Bay, plus many other things.
In the blink of an eye it was already dinner time, and I still hadn’t had lunch yet. It was the last night for us, shi xiong di mei (brothers and sisters), to have a meal together. Afterwards, we’d all be going our own separate ways and continuing with our own jobs. Who knows when we’ll reunite again?
After we finished dinner, I went straight home and packed my bags because I had another early flight to catch in the morning. I had to fly to Singapore to attend the 4th anniversary event for California Fitness. While I was walking around my house collecting things to pack in my bags, I noticed two pairs of yearning eyes constantly staring at me. It was as if they were asking me, “When will you play with me again?” And then I saw another two pairs of eyes patiently staring at me – it was my two cats. They were standing next to a small packet of cat food, waiting for me to open it up and feed them. The looks on their faces were totally irresistible so I quickly finished packing my bags and then took care of my cats and dogs. I knew that after I left it would be another long period of time before I came back to Hong Kong so I spent some time playing with them. Before I knew it, it was already past four o’clock in the morning and I only had two and a half hours left to rest, so I quickly went to bed.
November 15, 2009
I was awakened again by the horrible sound of the telephone. It was time to get up and go to the airport. I caught the 8:45 a.m. flight to Singapore and participated in the California Fitness 4th Anniversary event to encourage everybody, young and old, to keep fit and healthy and do exercise.

After the energetic and lively event, I finally had a chance to get some rest. But since I had some spare time, I took my assistant Irene to have a look at one of my other business ventures, the GoGreen circuit in Sentosa. It’s also known as the GoGreen-Segway Eco Adventure Trail where people can hire a Segway and ride around a circuit to admire the beautiful view. I took Irene there to have a look at how business was doing and we rode around the track to see how safe it was, observed the views and attractions as we rode along the route past the trees and by the beach, making sure that the sights were entertaining enough for the riders. Five of us, including myself, started our Segway journey from Sentosa Hotel and set off around the circuit. The view along the trail is so beautiful. One of the most significant things about this trail is that the local government fully supports this tourist attraction and they’ve also assisted with improving the surroundings along the trail. For example, they helped pave the roads throughout the entire route and have especially designated the road for Segway use only, and they’ve also flattened out all the rugged roads that run through the forest so when you’re riding around on the Segway enjoying the views, you know that the pathway very safe.
In the evening, I had dinner with two Chinese officials. After we finished eating dinner, I had another meeting with a group of people and discussed some things about a promise I made earlier this year. I made a promise to the Singaporean Government that I’d donate 5 historic buildings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties to the government and they can renovate them for cultural and educational purposes, and use them as a tourist attraction as well.
Right after the meeting, I went back to the hotel. Although it was very late at night, it was still earlier than last night, and the night before, and the night before that, and the night before that…… I finally have some time to rest. I laid in bed, read a bit of the newspaper, watched some international news on TV………zzzzzz.
I’m back in Beijing again. When I walked outside the airport, it was only two degrees Celsius. I took a nice deep breath of cool fresh air and it was so refreshing and comfortable. The feeling is totally different from the hot stuffy air when you’re inside buildings. One thing I noticed is that winter in Beijing is very hot, and summer in Hong Kong is freezing cold. During the chilly cold winter, all the heaters inside buildings are turned on full blast and there is absolutely no air circulation, making it very hot and stuffy inside buildings. Even if you don’t suffocate from the heat, you could easily be infected with a disease or illness from the bad air circulation. It’s not very environmentally friendly and it’s a waste of natural resources. It’s the same in Hong Kong during summer; everyone turns on the air conditioner and it gets so cold that people either get a runny nose or catch a cold. This is also a waste of natural resources. If everyone could just make some little adjustments and adapt with the difference in two temperatures then we’d all be more comfortable and it will also be more environmentally friendly. The Earth we live on belongs to us. If we don’t continue to take good care of it, our homes will soon disappear!
A Note From Irene (Irene accompanied Jackie on this trip as his assistant)
Over the many years, I’ve always heard Jackie say how beautiful, clean and green Singapore is. Inevitably, I’ve had my doubts but today when I arrived in Singapore with Jackie, I discovered that his words were very true. Singapore is also known as one of Asia’s four little dragons. The layout of the city and how the surroundings complement each other certainly deserves praise. There are tall trees on both sides of the road that help shade the sun, the roads are clean and tidy, and the cars drive in an orderly fashion. One thing that surprised me the most was when we began our Segway trail from Sentosa Hotel, we rode around the circuit and I noticed that no one was walking on the roads; there were only cars on the roads. When we rode into the forest, the Segway trail was neatly paved with cement and it made me feel very safe to ride a Segway along this path. I even asked Jackie how he managed to find such an amazing trail. He told me that he didn’t find this track. It was actually some other people who rode around on the Segway looking for sightseeing attractions and when they planned out a good route, they immediately started work on the trail, making new roads and altering other paths. In just a few months, they completed paving the 20km track. Furthermore, there are 3-4 people at the beach who give surfing lessons, and there are spa pools, bars, and restaurants where people can relax and enjoy a bit of music.
