October 5 - 16, 2009

I’ve been feeling relatively relaxed over the past couple of days because we’re close to wrapping up the Kung Fu Kid

Also, more and more people have been coming to visit us on the set, such as Tan Yuan Yuan:

She’s previously won many ballet awards. Even though I don’t know her very well, I still admire her professionalism a lot. Work was a little frustrating for me today because there were over 800 extras (background actors) on the set:

On top of that, our assistant director is still a little inexperienced so I ended up taking the speakerphone and taught every one of them how to act out their roles. Fortunately, the extras were very obedient.

As we got closer to wrapping up the film, more and more people came to visit us on the set, giving us presents to commemorate the occasion. A lot of them were Will Smith’s fans:

There wasn’t much to do during our meal breaks and I saw Will Smith sitting on the floor with his mobile phone surfing the net:

At first I thought he was working hard on his phone, checking emails or sending out messages or maybe dealing with company related things. But when I went over to take a closer look, he was actually playing games on his mobile phone. The life of many actors is really just that simple. When they have nothing to do during their break, they play games to kill time.

Other actors started to wrap up in succession, and one of the main actresses finished filming her part for the film as well. It just so happened that some of her friends from America, who are professional NBA basketball players, were in Beijing and they knew I was here so they stopped by at the set and said goodbye. We all enjoyed a drink together:

One after another, each of the main actresses finished filming their parts. After waiting for a while, I finally got to film my action scenes, which will be filmed over the next couple of days. This time I get to film an action scene with Yu Rong Guang. We start off by fighting with our bare hands and then we end up fighting with wooden stools:

I feel very comfortable shooting action scenes with Yu Rong Guang because he’s also an action actor and he knows how to be careful when we’re fighting.

Other actors around me continued to wrap up and they all said their goodbyes. This is another main actress in the film:

Look! Our make-up artist stole a chicken drum to eat. Does it taste good?:

I performed the song, Country, for the PICC Life Insurance Company Event. I bet you’re not going to believe what I’m about say; this song has been downloaded onto mobile phones over 500 million times already. So no matter where I go, people hope that I can perform this song.

I’m cooperating with PICC with helping the victims from the Sichuan earthquake, and we decided to raise funds together. This time I didn’t sing Country with Yuan Yuan. Another female artist, Mei He, was invited to sing the song with me. The reason for doing this is because I hope that more artists from different ethnic groups will sing this song as well, bringing out the song’s unique quality of being suitable for any nationality, place, and any colored person to sing. By changing just the first line of the lyrics, this song can basically represent every country and family in the world. It’s suitable for any nationality to sing.

Superman lost the battle! After non-stop filming through day and night shifts, I thought I was Superman but I got sick and had to lie down and rest. What followed afterwards was a succession of every crew member, staff and friend giving me medication. There was Chinese medicine, Western medicine; one pill wasn’t enough so I took an extra one. Other people gave me some other medicine, and I tried it. The following day, I almost suffered from poisoning. I just lay in bed and didn’t move. If you saw the jug of water and box of tissues beside my bed, you’d be able to imagine how miserable I felt. But I didn’t want to take photos of my current state; I look terrible. It would give you all a fright……

It’s finally a wrap for the Kung Fu Kid, cheers!!!

Jackie! I love what you did for Karate Kid 2010 and I love your dedication and enthusiasm in general. But please, please, please suggest to Yu Rong Guang that he do more U.S. films where he's a hero like in "Iron Monkey". All those villain roles are aging him. Thanks in advance... ;-0

Dear Jackie: Saw the "Karate Kid" last night with my 14 year old grandson, Todd. It was my second time seeing it as my husband and I saw it last week. It was a pleasure seeing it a second time. The movie captivated me both in subject matter and scenery and the message it sent regarding friendship and loss. Jaden Smith and the other youngsters were fantastic, and you were as well. I am soon to be 64 and my husband is soon to be 70, and we both left the theatre with huge smiles. Thanks to you and the Smith family for making a quality film for all ages. I may take my 91 year old mother next...

Jaden looks so happy with you Jackie, but then again, who wouldn’t be happy getting to spend time with you? To me, you are a world apart for other celebrities because you could have oodles of free time, but you choose not too. Lol, you silly goober that poor makeup artist, she had a look of fear, shame and anger on her face. Does she know that you posted her on the web? Finally, even though you were extremely sick you still thought to smash those plastic bottles, still thinking of the environment even when you are bedridden. You know, I found myself picking up trash in the parking lot before my shift at work started last week. My motivation was the thought, “If Jackie were here he would be picking all of this up.” Thank you for being such a positive influence in my life.
