I woke up feeling very happy this morning, but I also felt worried because I’m going to have a haircut today. The stylist said that I need a short hairstyle and a moustache for this movie but lately I’ve been afraid to let my facial hair grow because a lot of people have said to me, “Don’t grow any facial hair!” But as an actor this is what I have to do. If my hair needs cutting, it’ll get it cut; if my hair needs growing, I’ll let it grow. Many people have told me that I’m not allowed to have any facial hair and I’m not allowed to have any grey hair because it’s not good for my image. Having these things will make me appear a lot older. But for this particular movie, not only do I have to grow some facial hair, I also have to dye the sides of my hair grey and I have to dye my facial hair grey as well. This is what I have to do as an actor; I have to change my image according to the requirements of the script. Besides, everybody ages and when you’re old, you’re old.
I really like the story of this film so I honestly don’t mind. Today I went to cut my hair and then I had rehearsals. Foreign filmmakers have a habit of using film for screen testing – they look at the appearance of your character and then film some basic shots for the director to review.

After I finished work, I came back, took a shower and then immediately set off to attend the grand event for 60th anniversary of the establishment of the China Film Association. Initially I couldn’t make it because I had to work but this is my first time as the vice-president of the China Film Association and I’d feel bad if I didn’t go. So after work, I quickly rushed to the venue, spoke a few words, and the best part was when I led my new Seven Little Fortunes and we sang a song for everyone at the event. We sang Country.

Immediately after the event, I rushed off and went to look at some land again. I looked at different pieces of land and areas of abandoned land.
In the evening, I personally organized a big party. What kind of party? Well, it just so happens that today is Will Smith’s son, Jaden’s birthday so I wanted to organize a surprise for him. I guess you can say that he truly got a big surprise - he was shocked. He had no idea what we had planned for him, ha ha. There were prize drawings and people singing at the birthday party. I gave him many special presents. I also gave him a photo because I know that he likes to be healthy and strong. So I said to him, “To be fit and strong you have to work hard.” I think that Jaden had a very memorable birthday today. His dad even said to me, “You’ve given him such a meaningful birthday today. Wait until his 11th birthday, how are we going to celebrate it then?” Ha ha, just thinking about it gave me such a headache.

What a coincidence – today is also Yi Yang’s birthday. He is one of my disciples and also a member of my new Seven Little Fortunes. Seems like I’ve been constantly celebrating birthdays with people over here.
