Time really does fly. I can’t believe that it was only the day before yesterday when I was in Hong Kong and now I’m already back in Beijing attending many different events. After a good night’s sleep, I attended the movie premiere for Looking for Jackie today. The idea behind this movie came about when I was chatting with director Jiang Ping one day. He wanted to make a film for children, contribute a little something towards children’s movies, so he decided on a topic and called it Looking for Jackie. I feel very lucky to be chosen as the subject matter for his movie. In addition, there were innumerable actors who participated in this film. Many experienced senior actors made cameo appearances as well and they didn’t accept any payment for their work, including me – I even paid for my own plane ticket. We all want to contribute a little something towards making movies for children in China. There were a lot of people at the event today and I was very surprised to see such an exceptional turnout. I truly admire director Jiang Ping for the kind of courage and boldness that he has.

 

Right after the press conference, I went to meet up with Ms. Chen Li-hua and she told me that she recently developed some medicinal products from her research on zitan (red sandalwood). I looked at what she’d done and I admire her so much. For a person who possesses so much money – I guess you can say that she is the wealthiest lady in China – she still continues to do research on things that will help serve our society. This type of medicine that she developed has properties that are beneficial for many elderly people, middle-aged people, and even young people. I can’t tell you any more information about it right now because I made a promise, but I believe it’s going to appear in the market very soon.
