Meeting with Young Children

After the concert last night, we all went to celebrate at the after-party. While I was backstage during the concert and also at the after-party, I took lots of photos and chatted with many friends, including Rain and Super Junior from Korea, Zhao Benshan from China, as well as Eric Tsang from Hong Kong and many others.

Although I didn’t go to sleep until very late last night, I still had to get up early this morning because I knew I had a very important engagement to attend - I’d arranged to meet, chat and have lunch with student representatives from the Dragon’s Heart Schools as well as children with eyesight disabilities, children from Operation Smile, and many others.

I watched as the children ate with so much joy and happiness. They saw me as well so I asked them if they enjoyed the concert last night and if they thought it was a good show. They jubilantly replied with nice loud voices and said, “Good show!” I then asked them if they had enough to eat and if the food was nice. Again, they all smiled and loudly said, “Very yummy!” Being able to make these children happy by providing them with a warm and filling meal makes me even happier.

Even though I’d invited them to come watch the concert and have lunch together, I knew that they’d traveled very long distances to come here and what they’d really like was to meet with me and take some photos. So, how could I let them return home feeling disappointed? Take a look at how happy these children were.

Liu Laogen’s Big Stage

After saying goodbye to the children, I rushed to attend the business opening ceremony of “Liu Laogen’s Big Stage” and to congratulate my good friend Zhao Benshan. Liu Laogen’s Big Stage is the name of a theater in Beijing. The architectural design of the theater is enriched with styles and characteristics unique to the Northeastern culture and it’s extremely beautiful. In the future, the general public will have more opportunities to enjoy traditional Beijing opera.

My schedule today is very rushed. After walking the red carpet for Liu Laogen’s Big Stage, I immediately set off to attend my next engagement – a meeting with my fans.

Fan Party

It’s been quite a while since I last had a gathering with my fans. I’ve actually been very busy this year. Some fans took the initiative and said that they wanted to celebrate my birthday with me. I didn’t have the time to politely refuse but they knew I was working in Beijing so they spontaneously organized this activity for me. I’m so happy, and I’m also very grateful for their continuous support and encouragement.

During the gathering, I introduced my disciples to everyone, the New Seven Little Fortunes, and I also introduced a new Korean artist that my company recently signed up, Steve Yoo Suengjun. If you visit my official website, you’ll find an interview on Steve Yoo that you can read and get to know him a little better. As well as being interested in and liking the things I do, I hope that everyone will also like the New Seven Little Fortunes and Steve Yoo. In the not too distant future, I will sign up more artists under my company and help even more foreign artists to develop their careers in China.

Of course, there was a time set aside for the auction after the performance. Every time I hold an auction, fans from all over the world always support me. I guess you can say that the things I put up for auction weren’t of great value. The auctioned items were only products that I’ve produced such as clothes, pants, shoes, socks, and stationary; they’re all Jackie Chan brand products anyway. I also auctioned off some of my Chinese style clothing, jeans, and denim outfits that I’d previously worn. I can’t exactly say that these things are very precious, but I think they have value as memorabilia or as collector’s items. Nevertheless, my fans know that all proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Dragon’s Heart Foundation Project, so everyone was more than happy to bid for these items. During the course of the auction, there were bids of five dollars, ten dollars, and even over 100 dollars. Money wasn’t important. I just hope that my fans had an enjoyable time as well as having the opportunity to do some charity work too.

Many fans gave donations for the Dragon's Heart Charity.

This time at the fan party, there was a young boy from the Wishes and More Foundation who came to see me with his father. His wish was to meet me one day, so I made arrangements for him to attend the fan gathering. I believe that everyone knows about a similar organization, the Make a Wish Foundation, through which I’ve met quite a few children with illnesses over the past years. These children are very sick and some of them wish to meet me in person. The Make a Wish Foundation and the Wishes and More Foundation help make these children’s wishes come true. I’m very pleased to have met these young children. Being able to receive the love and esteem that they have for me overwhelms and flatters me. It makes me so happy but on the other hand, I also hope that they get better soon.

This is Nick, the boy sent to Beijing by  the Wishes and More Foundation

I’ve been very busy over the past few years, so I haven’t been able to meet with my fans on a regular basis. Hopefully in the future, I’ll be able to allocate some time and have more fan gatherings. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came to the party. Thank you for your support and your kind donations.

I can honestly say that I know of no other celebrity that holds little get-togethers with their fans. You are so considerate of those who support you and you do not take us for granted like most celebrities. Yet, another quality that makes you superman! Tina- the Chan addict

Jackie Chan, you seems to be so busy, you need to slow down things a little bit because your age are old now...You need to relax a little bit more; not rushing here and there, God bless you,

Beloved Jackie, thank you so much for this wonderful diary! Thank you also for the great photos of you with the happy children – while walking at the Bird´s Nest Stadium we saw them similing and talking. They were so excited! Also thank you so much for the great and fan party, my days are still nicer when I return to all unforgettable moments in my mind. We love the auctions and all products are very precious to us. I am a happy owner of the wonderful brown t-shirt from the auction and it has a very special place in my flat. Knowing that you held it in your hands I will never wash it. Your words that even if you will be busy in the future you still will try to make another fan parties more often made me very happy and I will make anything to be there again! Thank you again for everything!
