The women couldn’t make it down, so they waited for us up above. However, a few of the women, such as my Beijing office manager and my makeup artist thought that they could do it. They didn’t think it was dangerous, but I said, “You’ll see if you try.”

Finally they gave up the idea of coming down, and I guess if they did make it down, they’d never make it back up and would have to live on the mountain forever!
In the afternoon there wasn’t much to do besides wait to go to the airport for our flight to Shanghai. I spent some time reviewing and editing my diaries from the last few days.
The day of shooting, Jet Li and I were on the river using poles to push a raft. I had practiced the day before and found that after several minutes, I could easily control the raft as the river pushed it downstream. I only had to control the direction.

Our navigator, a local woman named Chen Jia, has been working for over seven years operating the raft. She has a great sense of humor and I really liked her. She said there were many tourists who had just been through because of China’s Golden Week holiday. She had to make six roundtrips to bring all the tourists around. We listened to her while she told us all about the beautiful scenery. Looking around me, I was reminded of the theme song from an old Chinese move “Twinkle Twinkle Red Star.”
"Little raft on the river, the high high mountains along the bank…”

It was so beautiful!
I called my friend on the phone to tell him about Wuyi Mountain and its beauty and he said he’d visit in September.
If you come to visit Wuyi Mountain you should find Chen Jia to be your guide. I think she could be a master tour guide because she knows every single inch of Wuyi mount and she presents it in such an interesting way.
